Q & A

What is Integrative Medicine (IM)?

IM involves the appropriate use of conventional medicine in conjunction with complementary therapies to facilitate the body’s innate healing capacity.

IM is evidence-based, inquiry-driven and open to new healing paradigms. It is an approach that aims to prevent disease, but also promote health on a broader community level. Natural, effective and less invasive treatment is used wherever possible.

Patient and practitioner work together in the healing process, forming a therapeutic relationship.

Is it a one size fits all approach?

Absolutely not, care is individualised – we all have different needs, conditions, genetics and circumstances that need to be addressed. We will work to create an individual journey to health for each patient.

Whats the difference between conventional medicine and IM?

In many ways, integrative/functional medicine and conventional medicine are similar. They are both practiced by licensed medical professionals; both are evidence-based, employ advanced diagnostic tests, and may use prescription medications.

Conventional medicine is excellent at addressing acute and urgent medical conditions: heart attacks, broken bones, physical trauma and acute illnesses are generally promptly diagnosed and well cared for under the conventional medical model.

IM works through a partnership of patient and practitioner, integrative medicine seeks to treat the whole person — body, mind, spirit, and environment — to promote health and wellness through the treatment and prevention of disease.

Integrative medicine is built on the technological advances we have seen in conventional medicine, with a focus on prevention and helping each patient achieve optimal health and wellness. The two systems go hand in hand; as integrative medicine doctors, we are also conventional medical doctors.

What is a Health Coach & how can they help me?

Working with a coach is a great way to help get your health back on track. Most people know what they should be doing to lead a healthy life, they just don't know how to break the bad habits that prevent them from getting there". It's all about transforming their mindset - a person's assumptions, habits, beliefs, training while learning to understand their unconscious payoffs/rewards for not changing.

someone may have been told to make changes in their lifestyle for health reasons but drop back to their usual way of being, or have habits of self sabotage. Our Coach is Clinically trained in hypnosis and NLP so can help you get to the bottom of those unconscious barriers holding you back! Committing to working with a coach can bring all this into conscious awareness, and supports that person to open an awareness to widen their comfort zone, step by step, until a new mindset becomes the 'new normal'.

Our Health Coach can coach and mentor you to a whole new level of mindset & guide you every step of the way with your health and healing journey.

I'm a bit scared of Hypnotherapy?

Hollywood has portrayed a very skewed reality of what hypnosis is.  TV has portrayed a very distorted view of the reality of hypnosis so understandably people have a few misconceptions.

All you have to do is close your eyes and get free; free from what has been causing you pain for far too long. Freedom begins in the mind. Take a nice, deep breath, letting-go. Freedom begins in the mind. Specifically, freedom begins in a place very few people know how to access – the subconscious mind. Your beliefs, emotions, habits, values, protective reactions, imagination, intuition… these all reside here.  The main thing about hypnosis that most people are unaware of if that it is completely voluntary.  You will not be "under someone's power" or be forced to do anything you would normally regard as wrong and it is not a form of mind control.

During the session you will be doing most of the work in a hypnotic state, and if you're not open to it, it's just not going to happen.  The therapist is there to help you get to the core your challenges you face and guide you every step of the way.

Is Hypnosis Medically Approved?

Hypnosis was first officially recognised as a viable therapeutic tool by the British Government through the Hypnotism Act in 1952. Since the sanctioned use of hypnosis, many insurance companies cover hypnosis for medical and dental uses. Now, more and more people are choosing hypnosis over anaesthesia for surgery, for pain relief and addictions. There are definite medical advantages offered by hypnosis, faster recovery time, and the need for fewer post-operative medications as well as mental health challenges people face.

What is Injectable Nutrient Therapy?

Infusion therapies can assist patients by providing high doses of nutrients through a drip, or injection. Treatment is tailored to the diagnosed clinical needs of each patient.

Injectable Nutrient Therapies can assist patients who have poor nutrient absorption, chronic fatigue, acute and chronic infections, or significant nutrient deficiencies that would benefit from rapid correction.

Infusions allow nutrients to enter the bloodstream directly, bypassing the stomach and intestines, thereby achieving much higher concentrations than when taken orally.

This includes B group vitamins, Vitamin C, & Iron.

This treatment does not replace a balanced diet and nutrition plan. It may however, assist patients with deficiencies that prevent adequate nutrition and dietary intake from being absorbed by the body, preventing therapeutic levels from being obtained. Injectable nutrient therapy can support conventional medical treatments to better assist patients to achieve optimal outcomes.
